Solar for agriculture & PM-KUSUM
Turn sunlight into irrigation and income. Solar pumps cut diesel costs, and PM-KUSUM plants turn fallow land into a 25-year revenue stream.

What is PM-KUSUM and how does it help farmers?
PM-KUSUM is the central government scheme for solar in agriculture. Component-A supports grid-connected solar plants of up to 2 MW on farmland, Component-B supports standalone solar pumps, and Component-C solarises existing grid-connected pumps. Farmers save on diesel and can earn from selling power or leasing land.
Sound familiar?
- Diesel pumps are costly and unreliable
- Unpredictable farm power supply
- Barren or fallow land earning nothing
- Scheme rules and paperwork are confusing

Frequently asked questions
Individual farmers, groups of farmers, cooperatives, panchayats, FPOs and water user associations can set up plants on their land, or lease the land to a developer.
Roughly 4–5 acres per MW for ground-mounted plants, depending on module technology and layout.
With elevated structures, dual land use such as shade-tolerant crops or grazing is possible.
